Getting in shape for the big day - are you ale and hearty?
Planning for a beer festival is like training for a marathon, claims this year’s organisers!
Step 1 - get in shape
The first thing we need to do is to check out the opposition and start our exercise routine. Not easy you might think, but our friends over in Wensleydale are lending us a helping hand - they’re putting on the Yorkshire Dales Beer Festival on 30 April - so we very much hope you’ll join us on the Ox bus for a fun day out. Ask at the bar or telephone one of the organisers if you’d like to come.
Step 2 - plan the exercise carefully
Discipline and routine is the key to success, as any athlete will tell you, and Crayke’s beer festival will not escape the rigours of careful planning and teamwork. Whether you just want to help pull pints on the day or can get involved more with the organisation, we’d be delighted to meet you at the Ox on Wednesday 4 May to start to lay the foundations for the event.
Step 3 - get familiar with the territory
No runner wants to get lost half way round - get to know the course first. We’ll be doing this in a minibus during the summer months, touring as many independent breweries and tasting as many different beers as we can. It’ll be hard graft, but join us if you can!
Step 4 - preparing for the big day
Drink moderately the previous day. Wake up before 10am, eat a big fry-up and then a big pie. Get to the festival as early as you can, and start at one end of the line of beers, and aim to stay standing until you’ve drunk your way to the other end. Fall over. Get up. Go home.
Congratulations - you made it!
